By JIGGSLAW®. The early termination of the agreement between Kosmos Tennis and the International Tennis Federation for the organisation of the Davis Cup has prompted the company owned by former FC Barcelona and Spanish National Football team player Gerard Piqué to file an arbitration claim with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), claiming that there were “no grounds” to end the 25-year partnership for the tournament’s organisation.

The International Tennis Federation announced at the beginning of this month, that it had terminated its 25-year partnership agreement with Kosmos for the Davis Cup organisation after five years. (see “ ITF ends Davis Cup partnership with Pique’s Kosmos investment group” Reuters, 12.01.2923).

Before the International Tennis Federation’s announcement that it would also file its claim with the CAS becomes a reality, Kosmos has now announced that it has filed an arbitration claim with the CAS. (See “Kosmos starts arbitration against ITF after parting ways with the Davis Cup,” Clàudia Espinosa, Sport, 25.01.2023).
